A consultation has been launched that could see Pay and Display charges being introduced in parts of Honiton High Street.
Parking on Honiton High Street is currently free for one hour, with no return for two hours between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday. There would be no change to current arrangements outside of these times or on market day.
The plans proposed will allow free parking for up to 30 minutes, for which you will have to get a free ticket from the Pay and Display machine. Parking for one hour will cost £1 available in cash, card or mobile phone.
Draft details of the scheme can be found on the Honiton Town Council website. The proposals have been drafted so residents can comment on the scheme, then consider the results of this consultation before any final decisions on the scheme are made.
The short survey is via Microsoft Forms and asks for your name, address and link to Honiton, then asks you if you would support a pay and display charging scheme on Honiton High Street.
A spokesman for Honiton Chamber of Commerce said: "This is to improve turnover, reduce congestion and ensure parking enforcement is efficient and sustainable, with any surplus revenue from operation of pay and display helping fund other areas of transport and traffic management including bus service subsidies."
Honiton Town Council is working with the Honiton Chamber of Commerce to launch a consultation. Honiton Town Council wishes to obtain the views of the public on the proposal to inform the feedback Honiton Town Council will provide to DCC.
You can find the survey on the Honiton Town Council website. Completed surveys should be returned by Friday, October 13
