Lyme Regis Museum has announced its programme of family-friendly activities for families to take part in over the summer holidays.

At the Museum, there are a whole host of hands-on workshops throughout July and August led by local Artists including clay modelling, print-making, blue lias painting and 3D modelling.

On the shoreline, guides will be running Rock Pooling sessions offering visitors the opportunity to discover the creatures lurking in the pools and crevices of Broad Ledge.

Learn all about the ammonites that lived in the Jurassic seas of Lyme Regis and polish your own 200-million-year-old fossil to take home in one of the Museum’s Fossil Polishing sessions or discover Lyme’s spooky side on one of their Ghost Walks.

Visitors will find fossils galore in the interactive geology gallery, a family-friendly learning centre, local history, famous writers and the story of Lyme’s most famous fossil hunter - Mary Anning. The new ‘Mary Anning’s Thunderbolts’ exhibition is included in the admission price as well as their current contemporary art exhibition ‘Landscapes of Dorset and Cornwall’ by Caroline Nairn.

Visitors can make a day of it and combine their visit with one of the Museum’s Fossil Walks which run most days (tide dependent). And for families, an annual pass offers the chance to enjoy a number of visits and activities over the summer.

Museum Director, Bridget Houseago, said: “We look forward to another busy summer here at Lyme Regis Museum where we are delighted to be offering visitors a full and varied programme of activities linked to our collections. If you are visiting Lyme, come on down to the Museum and enjoy what’s on offer, there’s something for everyone!”
