The Honiton branch of Barclays Bank will close this summer.
The branch will close on Friday, June 23 at 12pm, a letter to residents was sent out informing them of this closure last Friday, (March 24).
A spokesman for Barclays Bank said: "The decision to close a branch is never easy, and we appreciate this might not be welcome news, but we will make sure that residents and the local community will continue to have access to our banking services when you need them. It will just be in a different way, you can find more information about why we decided to close this branch at home.barclays/ukbranchclosures
"We are just finalising details of when and where we will be based to support you but in the meantime we are keen to hear what you think. We will be speaking to costumers, the local MP, council meetings, community groups and local businesses in the coming weeks to hear any thoughts, please visit the branch and speak to a member of the team."
Liberal Democrat MP for Tiverton and Honiton Richard Foord MP said: "It is very disappointing to learn of the decision from Barclays UK to close their branches in both Honiton and Tiverton in just a few months' time.
"This is a huge blow, not just for many of those living in the towns, but also those in the surrounding area who rely on being able to access these services locally.
"This is just the latest in a swathe of bank closures which risk leaving our communities as banking deserts, devoid of any local branches, and leaving people having to travel all the way to Exeter or Taunton to access vital banking facilities.
"I will be writing to Barclays’ CEO to raise these concerns and demand answers on why this is happening now, especially since Barclays is making huge profits - raking in more than £2.5billion last year.
"We also need to see the Conservative Government step up and put their shoulder to the wheel, so we can get the long-awaited Community Banking Hubs that our towns and villages need up and running."
