The internationally best-selling author Alice Feeney will appear at the Community Waffle House in Axminster on Saturday, April 15.
She will be interviewed about her latest book by Tim Pritchard from the Archway Bookshop. This is part of the community literary event partnership between Archway and the Waffle House, and Alice will be the first high-profile adult fiction author to appear.
Alice, who lives in Devon, writes in the mystery/psychological thriller genre. She is the author of five novels and her books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
Archway's owner Simon Holmes said: “Our evening with Alice promises to be a thoroughly stimulating one, given her massive achievement in turning her writing dream into a reality. Like so many aspiring authors, she scribbled in every available moment but suffered ten years of publisher rejections."
Before she became a published author, Alice was a journalist and producer for the BBC's One O’Clock News. Her first book, Sometimes I Lie, was written in her spare time, sometimes while she was travelling by train to work from her home in Devon. She took the Faber Academy writing course, finishing the book and course at about the same time.
Sometimes I Lie was published to huge acclaim in 2017. In 2019, Fox bought the television rights. Since then, Alice has published four further mystery thrillers including His & Hers, for which the TV rights have also been snapped up.
Her latest book - now available in paperback from Pan Macmillan - is Daisy Darker, 'an all-consuming tale of psychological suspense with a spectacular twist'. The story unfolds on a tiny private island off the coast of Cornwall, where members of a family who have not been together for years have gathered for a birthday reunion - but they are cut off by the tide for eight hours ... and one of them is a killer.
Another book is in the pipeline for publication in August.
The evening with Alice at the Waffle House starts at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £5, but anyone who buys the book from Archway in advance for £8.99 will also get admission to the event included in the price. Bookings can be made by phoning the shop on 01297 33744 or online at www.archwaybookshop.co.uk.
