BEER Film Society turns back the clock for this month’s film at the Beer Mariners’ Hall.
Taking place on Thursday, March 23, the society will show the classic To Kill a Mockingbird (1962) which celebrated its 60th anniversary last year.
A adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer prize-winning book of the same name won three Academy Awards including Best Actor for Gregory Peck and his unforgettable portrayal of Atticus Finch.
Finch is a widowed lawyer in Depression-era Alabama who defends a black man against a fabricated rape charge of a white woman, and his children - Scout and Jem (Philip Alford and Mary Badham) – against prejudice.
Most people reading this will know the story, as the book has subsequently become standard reading for many schoolchildren and the film is undoubtedly one of the most revered movies of all time.
As always the bar will be open and Baboo ice creams will be on sale. Doors open at 6.45pm and the film starts at 7.30pm.
