A new film featuring an actor born in Honiton is coming to the big screen.
The British Psychological Thriller Marooned Awakening was released Tuesday, Febraury 21 on streaming services in the US and Canada.
Honiton-born film star Murray McArthur, who recently appeared in The Northman and Wednesday, appears in the film.
The film follows Alex, a young journalist, who is preparing to leave behind his quiet island life for a new job in the city.
Forced to leave his girlfriend Emily, he prepares to leave his home.
As tensions with his father escalate, Alex pursues one last story - uncovering the unsettling truth of a recent boat accident.
This final investigation challenges his own perception of reality.
The drama also stars Tim McInnerny and Tilly Keeper. Musaab Mustafa directs the thriller, implementing a surrealist and classic style.
The feature, written and produced by Ashplant and Mustafa, is an Across the Channel and Ivy Gate Films production, with support also from Guernsey Arts.
The film is currently touring in cinemas across the UK. This will include a screening in Tiverton.
The film is a rural tale, filmed in Guernsey but is not set on the island.
The drama showcases the culture, imagery and lifestyle common in most rural communities in the UK.
Murray McArthur said: "Having been born in Honiton and growing up in farming and fishing communities, I felt a great affinity to the story.
"The demise of traditional industries, the appeal of city life to young people and the sense of isolation that rural and island life can produce, these are all things which resonated with me."
