For those looking for a family outing, they need look no further than what is on offer in East Devon.
Seaton beach is a popular destination for many visitors going to the tourist resort.
Mainly made up of pebbles along its length, which extends to around a mile, some do find it difficult to walk along.
But a well-constructed promenade allows those who find the pebbles too challenging an easy walk, with beautiful views along the coast.
Set within the Jurassic Coast, visitors can look west towards the prominent chalk cliffs of Beer Head and east towards the mudstone and sandstone of Charmouth and Lyme Regis.
Those who are particularly active can walk along the South West Coast Path in either direction and be assured of a challenging walk on the cliff tops with rewarding views.
The beach itself slopes to the gently crashing waves on the shoreline.
For watersports enthusiasts, there is the chance to hire stand-up paddle boards and kayaks.
The clubhouse of Axe Yacht Club is at the eastern end of the beach, with boats stored behind it, both on land in the estuary of the River Axe.
There are also cafés, pubs and restaurants within easy reach of the beach, so after enjoying a stroll along its length, visitors can take advantage of the fare they have on offer.
There are times when the areas gets quite busy, with the route of the annual Cycle Fest passing close by, The Grizzly, in March, for the more intrepid runners and other events.
The weekly Parkrun sees runners completing two lengths of the seafront, including stretches on the pebbles, to be applauded as they complete the 5km route.
Other tourist attractions within a short distance of the beach include Seaton Jurassic and Seaton Tramway, both of which are worth a visit.
