SAWBRIDGE HILARY PATRICIA . Lovingly known as “Granny Wheels” to family and friends, passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms and with family beside her on the 5th December 2019. Hilary worked for many years as a teacher at Axminster Secondary school where her talents were discovered for teaching Special Education Needs and inspiring young people to success. Hilary and Richard believed strongly in supporting the local community and young people with Hilly being an active member of the Axe Valley Ladies Circle, Seaton Cricket club and a Samaritan. She married the late Richard Sawbridge in 1966, and supported her husband’s career across the country, finally settling back in Seaton, Devon, enjoying retirement, good food and fine wine. Following Richards death in 2013 Hilary spent her last 6 years very happily living in Newcastle close to family. Hilary was immensely proud of her ever expanding family and leaves behind nothing but great memories, funny stories and many examples of her dry sense of humour. Hilary is survived by three children: Cary, Toby and Charlotte, five talented grandchildren and two adorable great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10.30am on the 17 December at West Road Cemetery, West Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE5 2JL.
