Honiton Police Response is appealing for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything after a vehicle fire on St Leonard's Road in Honiton on Sunday, June 23.
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service attended around 3.30am to a report of a vehicle fire which is suspected to be arson.
Police officers said: "We attended and viewed CCTV footage from one of the houses in the area which shows an 'unknown assailant' at 3.19am breaking the window of a white Vauxhall Mokka and place a burning accelerant into the vehicle before running off in the direction of Beggars Lane.
"The suspect appears to be wearing a baseball hat and may have suffered some burns to their clothing.
"If you, or anyone you know, has any information which may assist us in our investigation please report this to us on 101 or use the Devon & Cornwall Police website quoting occurrence number 50240153555. Alternatively, you can report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
