THERE is less than a week to go until the Offwell  Village Fete returns to the village after a 10 year break.

The village's annual fete is back and is taking place on Saturday June 29. Villagers have grouped together to reinstate the fete in a bid to raise funds for several organisations including Offwell School PTFA, St Mary's Church, Offwell Village Charity and ORSA (Offwell Rural Services Association).

In the week leading up to the fete, there will be a Scarecrow Competition (Theme: Olympics). Residents are asked to hang bunting on garden walls and fences. Judging will take play on 28th June 28 and the winners will be announced at the Fete on Saturday 29th June.

Confirmed in the central ring will be Twirl Stars Dance Group and Tudor Dance Group plus the children’s fancy dress, (Theme: Mad Hatters).

There will be a Bouncy Castle for the children and Cleave Farm animals will be penned at the side of the field. Confirmed stalls include the popular Devon Freewheelers, who will appear with one of their blood bikes; Air Ambulance, Fire Engine, WW2 vehicles, Air Cadets, PTFA (games to play), wood turners, glass, jewellery, needle craft, plants etc.

There will be a Treasure Hunt with clues to be found at each of the stalls.

​Organisers do need volunteers to come forward and help with a number of tasks including Bottle Tombola, Raffle Prizes, Plants, Cakes and Baked Goods collecting Second Hand Book Stall and Help On The Day to help run the stalls and set up for the Fete itself.
