The Proper Fish & Chips Company pride itself on the quality of its food and unrivaled customer service.

That's why the team is very proud to have been awarded a five-star food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency.

The store at 60 Honiton High Street opened in November selling burgers, fish and chips and pies from Chunk of Devon.

Their pies, potatoes and burgers are all locally sourced within Devon and the South West. The packaging is 100% biodegradable and is made from plants. They don't sell any products that contain plastic.

Daniel Hennesy, owner of The Proper Fish and Chips said: "Serving customers in Exmouth and Honiton we champion quality local produce. This week's spuds were grown just over the border in Cornwall and our Beefburgers are from Dartmouth-bred cattle. Our fish is MSC certified and is from sustainable stocks.

"Cooked the traditional way our award-winning Fish and Chips is available as standard alongside our full Gluten Free menu seven days a week."

A takeaway, eat in and click and collect service is available via their website properfisandchips.co.uk

The restaurant in Honiton is open daily 11.30am to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm. Exmouth's restaurant is open daily from 11.30am to 2pm and 5pm to 10pm.

All Proper Fish and Chip Company shops have a five-star food hygiene rating from East Devon District Council (EDDC).

The scheme gives businesses a rating from zero to five which is displayed at their premises. A five star is the highest accolade of food hygiene.

The Food Standards Agency say ratings are a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection.

Eateries are rated on the following factors; handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, how food safety is managed.
